Hassan, the district headquarters is well connected by road and rail line from Bangalore and has all modern amenities including hotels and accommodation. The River Cauvery traverses through parts of the southern regions of Hassan District. Rivers Hemavathi and Yagachi are the tributaries of river Cauvery. Gorur has a dam across the Hemavathi River. The District & Sessions Court, Hassan is established as per G.O. No. LAW 135 CAD 63 (VIII) dated 27.09.1965 and started functioning w.e.f. 01.11.1965. It is presently located in the heart of the city of Hassan, opposite to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences.
