Lakshmi Narashihma Temple, Nuggehalli:

  • 07.30 AM- Departure to Lakshmi Narashihma Temple, Nuggehalli (54 Km)

Tourist site information:

  • It is mentioned that have been built by Bommanna Dandanayaka during the reign of the Hoysala king Veerasomeshwara in 1246 AD.
  • It was built in the Hoysala Trikuta (three sanctuaries) style – dedicated to Keshava (west), Lakshmi Narasimha (north) and Venugopal (south).

Tourist site information:

  • Gomateshwar is famous for its 57 feet tall monolithic statue of Bahubali.
  • It is considered one of the largest monolithic statues in the world (carved from a single stone).
  • The Bahubali statue was erected in 981 AD by Chamundaraya, a minister of the Ganga dynasty.
  • The surrounding area offers a panoramic view of the Shravanabelagola town and the Chandragiri hills.

Tourist site information:

  • It is located opposite the Vindhyagiri Hills.
  • There are several Jain basadis (temples) and monuments dedicated to Jain monks here.
  • It is associated with Jain sage Bhadrabahu, who meditated here with his disciples. There are about 14 temples including Chandragupta Basadi, Paswanatha Basadi, Shantinatha Basadi etc.
  • One has to climb 200-250 steps to reach the top. One can enjoy a panoramic view of Shravanabelagola town and Vindhyagiri hills. It is an important destination for Jain pilgrims.
