Boocheshwar Temple, Koravangal:

Tourist site information:

  • It is mentioned that it was built in the 12th century by a wealthy patron, Buchi (Buchiraja), to commemorate the coronation of the Hoysala king Veeraballala.
  • It is a Dwikuta (twin sanctum) temple, with two temples facing each other, one dedicated to Shiva and the other to Surya.

  • Dedicated to Shiva (in the form of a linga), this temple was built around 1234-1235 CE during the Hoysala period, and is mentioned as have been built by the Heggade brothers Peddanna, Sovanna and Keshanna during the reign of King Veera Someshwara.
  • Someshwara Temple is a remarkable pair of temples of Hoysala heritage built in Haranahalli, just 100 meters east of the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple.
  • Built in the Hoysala style, the temple has a star-shaped (star-shaped) sanctum (Ekakuta), which has a Trikuta (three-sanctum) design.

Malekal Tirupati, Arsikere:

  • It is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara (Balaji) in a form similar to the one in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh.
  • One has to climb about 1250 steps to reach the top of the hill. From the top of the hill, one can enjoy a scenic view of the surrounding Arasi Kere town and the countryside.
